In regards you would most defiantly need the F-450 and a Diesel. One thing I see was missed no one mentioned is the F-450 has larger brakes on it then the 350. Towing the weight your talking that would be a very big advantage for sure. Some talk about the 4:30 gears but have to remember the 450 has a larger tire then the 350 so the gearing is not as much different as it appears.

The larger brakes are facilitated by the 19.5" rims. However, the 450 has shorter sidewalls than the 350 tires...so in the end the 450 tires are actually only 0.4" larger in diameter than the 350 tires. However, the 350 DRW can only have as much as a 4.10 rear end, while the 450 can have a 4.30 rear end. So perhaps they are fairly equal.

But the 450 has a much tougher rear axle, and of course gets the sharper turning circle, and the top GVWR.

I thought the brakes on the f250/350/450 pickup trucks have been identical for a few years. For the 2016, they all have 14.29" rotors all around.

You could be correct - I don't have the specs. I'm just assuming the 450 could because of the larger rim size. A 17" tire does not allow a larger rotor and caliper than what we basically have now.

One difference is vacuum vs hydroboost brakes. I know rotor sizes are identical between 250 & 350 SRW models anyway. 14.29" vented front and rear IIRC.

I thought most gas motors had vacuum boost brakes and all diesel motors had hydroboost because turbo diesel motors don't have vacuum. Correct?

The 450 has had different (larger) brakes than the DRW 350 since it's 2015 redesign when it went back to 10 lug. As far as current gen 250/350SRW/350DRW, the DRW has hydroboost. Since 2012 all 250's and SRW 350's have had vacuum boost. There is no difference between gas and diesel.

Good to know about the vacuum boost. I didn't realize that they added a vacuum pump just for that with the diesel.

Ford's website truck specs show the same brakes on the F250, 350 and 450. 2016 Ford Super Duty | View All Ford Super Duty Specifications | Ford.com

I do see that you get bigger brakes on the F450 chassis cab, but not the pickup. http://www.ford.com/commercial-truck...ions/view-all/. For some reason that I don't understand, the chassis cab can have a 2500lb higher GVWR, yet is rated to pull nearly 10K less than the F450 pickup.

It's possible their spec page is wrong though. If the brakes are bigger on the F450, that's one more in the "plus" column when I'm trying to decide. If they just made bigger parking spaces, the decision would be easier!

A DRW 350 and 450 occupy the same size footprint. They are the same width and length.

Chassis cabs cannot pull as much because they do not have as much power and torque.

Concering the Frame, i guess it will be like with the old models.

Old F-250/350 Pickup had a little bit lighter frame as the F-450 Pickup which used the same frame as the F-450 cc. The F-350 cc on the other hand had that same frame, so the f-350 cc and 450 cc frame where identical. The f-550 which only was available as a cc anyway alsways had another, even stronger frame.

Now that there is a boxed frame on the 250/350 i guess the 450 pickup will use that same frame and all the cc's will still use the old c-channel frames.

On the new CC's the frame is boxed under the cab and c channel in the rear for ease of upfitting.

Yeah if i recall correctly this is how it has been since ford abandoned the front leaf springs. Only question is: Will the new F-450 Pickup get a fully boxed frame or this old mixed frame like the current trucks all together.

Well then i guess, like statet aboven, that it will have the same frame as the f-350, so the only severe difference will be the rear axle?

Rear axle, front wide track axle, 19.5 commercial truck tires, front and rear suspension more HD, bigger brakes...
