EGR Tube Assembly

Can anyone verify if the egr tube off a 92 F-150 will fit a 1996? I see one with the valve for sale but I'm not certain if it will fit. Can you also tell me if the Engine would run badly if the egr tube was not working? I understand the re-burning of exhaust etc... but would it effect acceleration ?

If the '96 tube is an F250 or larger and it's for the same engine it would work, but otherwise no the 1/2 ton trucks got a new EGR system in '96 and the tube is totally different. As for a leaking EGR tube affecting engine operation, it would allow unmetered fresh air into the intake which would result in a high idle, whereas if the motor was getting too much exhaust gas it would stumble and lose power, but that would indicate a stuck valve not a leaking tube.

Thanks for the input. Big help. The Tube was the wrong one. Think I'll just buy a new one.
