Almost done with the mechanicals...
I bought my 1989 F-250 back in 2009 for $600 when I lived in Utah. Shortly after buying it, I set about to rebuilding the front end, and adding all new braked components on both axles. After that, we moved to PA, and I used the truck to tow my Lincoln. Halfway through that trip, the engine decided to start blowing oil...and since I couldn't afford to do anything but keep driving and pouring oil every stop, that's what we did. The poor engine made it, but it was a goner. I bought a junk truck with a 60K mile engine, and did the swap. However, the transmission bell housing was broken, and needed replaced.
The truck sat for 4 years, until last year, when I located a transmission worthy of a complete rebuild. I had the work done, and the truck sat until a few weeks ago, when I had the starter replaced, steering column replaced, and finally had it inspected for tags in PA. Next month, I'll replace the oil pan, and all mechanicals will be done. I'll still be under $2500, counting purchase price, when the pan is done.
My next step is to get the body cleaned up, and wheel well cancer cut out. All the griping that the wife did about the truck over the past couple of years has been worth it...Not. However, the project is finally seeing the end of the tunnel.
Once the body work is done, the whole truck will ge sprayed down with a coating of bed spray for durability and appearance.
I'm just glad the end is near on the project...
