Smile 1992 F-150 5.0 to replace 5.0 in a 1989 F-250

Hey all. I finally received my pull-out from the auto recyclers. It's a 1992 5.0 EFI from a F-150. It's going into a 1989 F-250 that had the same EFI engine. My question is does anyone know what changes I need to make on the new engine, (besides the norm of oil, Filter, Water pump, Etc.), to make this work? Any sensors, or wiring changes...Etc. Sure appreciate all the help I can get...Eric

Remove the upper intake on both motors and disconnect the wiring at the sensors, leave all wiring in your truck and reconnect it to the 92 once it is bolted in place. If the distributors are wired differently use the '89 but put the steel drive gear from the '92 on it first.

Another thing I just thought of that may complicate your swap a little, Ford moved the IAT(Intake Air Temp) sensor from the lower intake to the airbox sometime in the '90s. Compare the two motors to see if this sensor is missing on the '92, if it is you will have to swap the '89 lower intake onto the '92.

Thank you for the heads up Paul. I Have a bit of time ( least wise the first of the month), till I actually do the swap, When I get my disability check to get all the other bits I need to finish getting it ready for the swap, hahaha...And hopefully the weather will cooperate for a couple of days. Thank you again. Eric

The IAT should be in the same location, so no worries there. Wasn't until MAF 302 that it was moved.

OK Timbersteel, I Appreciate it...As soon as the rain down here stops and I get a few chores out of the way, I will get a chance to get a real good look at everything...Unfortunately, I'm working outside for a bit...And everything is under wraps for a bit...
