I have a 1996 F150 with the 4.9 inline 6. Earlier this week, I was driving it home and it suddenly died. Wouldn't start up so I had it towed home. After a bunch of research, I started replacing parts here and there. So far I've replaced the distributor, ICM, ignition coil, And the PCM. I have good spark and good fuel pressure. I'm just wondering whether I should take it to a mechanic or a priest. Any advice would be great.

 

Greetings and welcome to the forum. The first thing to do would be to ask the computer... have the codes pulled and likely, you will see what has failed.

 

1996 was the only year the 4.9L 300ci engine had OBD-II. Use a code reader on it!

check spark plugs, like what colour they are? maybe while your at the replacing parts ***** nilly, replace the Oxygen Sensor(s) too!
