Have a question about the delete pedestal
Did a couple searches and I cannot find the answer...
I have a 1997 7.3 Crew Cab 4x4 long bed (I bought it new in 1997, it's never been in the snow up here in Michigan, it's a garage queen all winter and low miles (under 100K). No rust anywhere either and no, it's not for sale....lol
I read somewhere you can TIG the OEM pedestal and I'm an accomplished TIG welder but is that the answer or just buy the replacement and eliminate everything?
I have the original pedestal and warm up valve and it leaks a bit (spots in the gravel). Is the Riff-Raff delete pedestal a good refit? I've had mine off to fit the Banks quick spool turbine housing some years ago and replaced the OEM rings with Caterpillar rings but the actuator is leaking so I guess it's time for the pedestal...True or not?

I purchased a deleted pedestal from Ron's Turbo In Salt Lake. It had the plunger removed, and a 1/8 (I think) pipe plug tapped and threaded in where the plunger comes out of the housing. The solinoid was removed and a 3/8 plug was in there. I did the same to the one that was leaking, and now it is going in the 97 when I get around to it. That is a cheap alternative to buying a deleted pedestal.

I just did mine it was easy once you get the SOB out of there. if you cut about 2/3 of the round housing off the back, I did this with a plasma cutter and welded the holes in it shut it goes back on much easier. I gutted the valve and put in a freeze plug and brazed it. No pro but it works so far
