I have a 2001 long bed f250 4x4 with the 5.4. and here recently I have noticed that the fuel gauge shows different levels after parking in the same spot. and from a quarter of a tank about 16 to 17 gallons will by the gauge fill the truck. and I am curious how big the tank could be I have searched the internet and cant find much from a vin decoder I found online it says the truck has a 38 gallon tank? is that correct if so then my fuel gauge is way off. and sounds like I either need to look into a new gauge or a new sending unit but before I would like some input on whether or not I have a 38 gallon tank or not. and if there is a way to find out by either looking at the government emissions label under the hood or if there could be another spot somewhere on the truck.
thank in advance
ok I guess I should have used google from what I just read it looks like the long wheel base trucks have a 38 gallon tank. and I know the fuel gauge is not always correct but are they known for being up to almost half a tank off?
