cheapest oil for flush

Everytime I do an oil change I like to clean the oil that gets stuck in the hpop as well. I normally just do an oil change, w/filter, then run the truck for 10 miles, then do another one to completely get rid of all the dirty oil in the entire system. Obviously it's getting expensive. Does anyone know of some really cheap oil I can run for those 10 miles to flush the system? Also does anyone know if i can change the weight of the oil since its such a short time? Doesn't matter how good it is, it's just being used for the flush, then I'll put in good quality oil.

Thanks for the responses in advance.

Your going to stir the pot but Ill throw my 2 cents. I do this on my truck every 3 oil changes (stopped doing it completly since my engine is on its way out) the right way to actually do it is to drain the hpo rails and hpop resevoir and add new oil and just do a regular oil change. This method my oil keeps honey color up to 4k then starts turning black no running the truck ehen doing this.

It seems kinda silly to do that. The amount of oil isn't very much. I've had 5 7.3 trucks. All of them have had over 200k miles and ran good and never had the hpop oil changed. The 2 current ones I have the 99 has 400k miles and the 95 has 200k and I wouldn't waste my money on changing the hpop oil. If your gonna spend the money to do something like that just get you a bypass oil filter system it would be more useful.

So what will be the plan to remove the cheap/thin oil from the hpop and oil rails? Obviously you are somewhat OCD with the oil change, which I am totally fine with, but you would be better off draining and refilling the hpop and oil rails with good oil than running cheap oil for a flush.

I'm with arkredneck! With the money your wasting you would be better off getting a FS2500 oil bypass system to filter the shi! out the oil.

Keep the new oil used to flush the system and re use it multiple times. the junk will settle at the bottom. hardly worth the work. the little oil left mixed with new oil is still better than all new oil with 500 miles on it. If it matters now then you need to change oil every 500. or less

Simple compromise - siphon the oil out of the HPO reservoir and refill with fresh oil. That's one less quart of old oil left on each oil change. A WAG-estimate, that leaves about a quart in the rails. If you change your own oil, it doesn't really add to the time, since you can do it while the pan is draining. That's a more thorough oil change than most PSDs get, and you won't be getting those Thank You cards from OPEC.

It's a waste of time and money, by if you can't be talked out of major overkill on a simple oil change, then Supertech 15w-40 is your cheapest...but then how do you really get those different additives out? Flush with good oil? See the madness? Just change the oil regularly dude and save your time and money.

If your going to flush the system like that then why not just change your oil twice as often?

That makes to much sense Nick. I have even a better idea! Disassemble the motor completely, there has to be another quart or two hanging around in there!

This is what came out of my pan AFTER the oil change. That's with pouring 3qts down through everything with the plug out to clean it out a little more. I accidentally put in about 2qts too much because I forgot about the extra fluid in the hpop. This is the 2qts I drained out after the change, it's the same color as tire rubber. I have a hard time looking at that and thinking my engine enjoys trying to run with that black of "fresh" oil.

Yep. These motors create a lot of contamination. Out of curiosity how often do you do an oil change?

This one is 1yr time which was 2748 miles. So this is "normal" fresh oil color?
