Bendix self adjusting rear brake spring

I have a 56 F100. One of the P.O.s have installed a Dana 60 rear end. In rebuilding the brakes, I am noticing the driver side primary shoe has a large spring, but on the passenger side the large spring connects to the secondary shoe. Is this correct? If not which way should it be?

Are these springs both on the forward shoe or both on the rear shoe? Or is one on the forward on one side and one on the rear shoe on the other side?

Yes. One is on the forward shoe on one side and one is on the rear shoe on the other side.

The front shoe (should have the shorter friction material) goes to the front, and the larger spring is on the front shoes, because they are self-energizing.

This is my left (DS) rear brake
