TEST the relay. If you insist on just throwing parts at it, replace the relay FIRST. The controller is a high-risk replacement item, as mentioned above.

Alright buddy just relax, and cool it with the caps. It's my truck. If I want to replace the relay while I'm already working on everything else, that's my decision.

You can replace the whole engine while you're at it if you like. Apologies for trying to save you some money, grief and time.

This is why I chose to replace everything rather than test for a specific problem. I had no idea what kinds of parts the previous owner used. Now I know. I still have 6 more burned out and rusted autolite glow plugs to swap out. Hopefully I can be back on the road tomorrow.

The work is done. Some of the plugs were a real pain to get out but I finished the job without incident. After an oil change and a couple coats of wax the she is running and looking great.

To anyone who changes glowplugs do yourself a favor and use high temp antiseize. John Deere sells some stuff call never seize that's good up to 1800 degrees.

I use it on glow plugs, exhaust bolts, lug nuts, bellhousing bolts. It's great stuff and super cheap insurance. The po of my truck did not use it and two glow plugs are stuck in my head...there actually spinning within themselves. Thehhex turns but the actual outside doesn't. The motorcrafts too

Autolite makes crappy spark plugs too
