with the ifs welded the R&P is closer to the frame by maybe an 1" that makes the angle a little sharper to the steering column so you may still want the additional ujoint, but I think that the 56 frame is 34" giving an additional 1" that you can move the engine to the right I would move it an inch to see if you can clear the headers. I don't know how the radiator will sit in a 56 but another 1/2" would help my hoses and I'm elect fan, mechanical fan would give me trouble with auto trans cooling lines

I used dorman log type exhaust manifolds(not as wide as headers), I have about 3/4" clearance from the steering don't know if that's going to be good or not
I had the cab on the frame and would just tip it on its back to move the engine to try another place
good luck

Can you tell me more above the Dorman manifolds? How do I find them and can I look up the specs?

Motor mount (stand) design

All, i appreciate all the great feedback. Due to engine placement I couldn't get a good mounting down to the jag's engine pad. So i came up with this design. Is this ok? Will it be strong enough? It's 3/16 (fully boxed) and i'm planning to weld it to the boxed frame which is 1/8. I'm sure the stands are strong enough but will this be putting too much stress on the welds or the boxing plate? In other words is the bottom angle too shallow?

Again, thanks for the help!

i would put a flat piece of steel under the center of the mount to turn that mount into a "T" shaped beam.

My drawing stinks

In your pic it looks like your mount is over the jag engine support mount. Dave used the jag engine mount

I think the mount would be good if fully welded to the frame, the only problem you may have is pushing straight down on the mount it will be trying to bend your boxing plate in the middle. So something like Dave drew in red above or even just another plate of 3/16 top to bottom over you boxing plate to help support in the middle. OR Drill a hole thru the frame right at that level(bottom of your engine mount) and weld a couple rods or tubes horizontally....

My mount design and placement was recommended by the lead instructor in the Motor Sports Division at our local College.

I was taking about tzavaleta's mount the way it will push outward on the inside of the flat frame box.

Here is how I ran my steering shaft around the header.

Hope this helps.
