7.3 info

Hey everybody new guy here as far as diesels been on the forum for a while had a 88 460 for a few years. Now have a spare idi that I'm going to swap this summer in sure I can handle that. But I now also have a 96 powerstroke engine i found for 250$. And also getting pcm, computer, radiator, 200$. Give me some info on these puppies. I kinda want to build a big monster. But doubt the pocket book will stand for that. Just don't really know what to do with it. Don't know enough about it. Except their reliable. Had 347k on it. So anyideas? All donor are expensive dangg!!

Yea I got everything except flywheel. Look like a clean motor. And I don't really know it would probably be a ford truck. I really want to know more about what makes this different from the idi what electronics was added?

It is a completely different motor and relies on electronics to fire

not good, but also not bad. they are two completely different engines.
kinda like a 300 six cylinder and a 302. same displacement, but the idi is like the 300. a slow and steady grunt engine where the powerstroke is like the 302, a high spirited power engine..

All depends on previous maintnence. Maintained well, no. If not, could be. There are a lot of trucks with that many miles running on here, I have one that just needs some injectors someday.

my dad has a powerstroke with over 500k on it and still strong never any major issues. It just now needs injectors. He also has another one with over 400k that had injectors put in it about 3 times. So it can go either way.the one with 500k was a 99, and the other a 2002.
