1995 Powerstroke throttle response

First time Powerstroke owner. 1995 Powerstroke 5 speed 4x4 139,000 miles. I am wanting to know what is causing the poor throttle response once warmed up. First thing in the morning when it's cold, it runs like a bat out of hell. As soon as it warms up it seems sluggish until the turbo kicks in. Any ideas ?

It's straight piped as far as I know. I'll check tomorrow. Will a clogged cat cause this problem ?

Welcome to the OBS brethren
As for your problem it might be an ipr sticking, any way you can diagnose your truck with a compatable scanner?

Z31freakify Thanks ! I have an OBDII on the passenger side inside the cab. I have hooked up my scanner with no luck. I was told I need to have the PCM reflashed to activate the OBD II port. As for the sticking IPR, that was my first thought. I would like to read the pressures first with a scan tool before I start throwing parts at it. On a side note where do I add my signature ?

A generic OBD-II device won't communicate with your truck, even if it's been flashed to activate the port. Chances are, if the truck was ever at the dealer, it has been flashed.

Yep, the standard scanners dont work.
Its not relaly OBD2, its .. ******* child. hahaha.

Anyways.

You cannot put in a signature till 10-15 posts.

Poor throttle response can be a ton of things.

I'd start someplace like fuel pressure and exhaust and air intake.

Thanks, I'll start at fuel pressure and go from there.

Just a shot in the dark but if it runs OK when cold and gets worse when warm, it could be your oil isn't the right viscosity for the fuel injection system. Unless it's new oil of the right viscosity rating, I'd try changing it, especially if it's time for a change anyway.
