You gotta tell me again what weekend it is.....I have 4 kids that have busy schedules and my two girls are coming to the island on April weekends with the grandkids etc etc... The one that is having the huge wedding here in August (no grandkids )has a gigantic agenda for wedding planning with dad that most likely has nothing at all to do with the Portland swap meet. Let's hope I dodge a bullet on this one. God knows I frikken DESERVE it.

I started going in 2005,I left the left coast in 2011, so 2010 was my last trip A lot of stuff to see. Very enjoyable cruising around. My only complaint is that each year I saw more and more "as seen on tv" type stuff and Chinese junk tool peddlers inside.i

A friend recently told me it was a great swap meet if you wanted chinese made rear quarters for a 65 mustang or an 18 dollar set of 3/4 drive sockets..... When I went 25 years ago there were a lot of flatbed trailers with Montana and Idaho plates with dry western cars in various stages of decline....

Henry's "update" speaks to the evolution of the swap meet in a nutshell. But if it's vintage tin and tools that turn your crank,
spend most of your time in the outdoor area, and even the race track. Most of the commercial vendors of repro. parts and
imported junk are found in the "premium" booths inside. (And if you only have one day to wander through the maze, your
time will be better spent avoiding the inside crowds anyway...)
I usually go Sunday mornings; fewer crowds and better bargains to be found!

we rolled in on thursday and left on sunday morning. 4 of us from calif went, and I met up with doug Mc dowel alias muppy 1840 and his wife from calgary alberta, this was the first time being there for all of us, and from what the regulars say it usually rains, so we were blessed with great weather, i took all the rain gear for nothing LOL, i found a lot of cool items to take home, i had a great time, i called G.B from the PIR, but he mentioned he couldnt make it.
i will make the trip again down the road,

Thanks for the recap mrcman! Wish I could've been there. Was there a good amount of old Ford parts there or was it more like a flea market?
