Interior storage 2016 XL Super cab

Of all the things I looked into and made decisions on before purchasing this truck, I never looked at interior storage. Compared to my 07 I traded, there is very little storage. I have the center console that pulls up to allow for a bench seat and the storage is very shallow, and the pull out tray (ash tray) I used to put change in is now a pop out cup holder. My Lariet has a huge amount of storage so this caught me off guard. Does anybody have any ideas on how to create storage? I'm looking into a Tuffy under rear seat lock box, but I'm losing some of my floor space to set things on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel your pain. I sold my 06 supercab and recently bought a 16 supercab lariat. Aside from the huge consule I feel like the cab is smaller. Am I wrong? I had more floor space in the back of my 06. To make matters worse I have a subwoofer under the seat on the driver side rear seat. This is where I would want to put stuff with the seat flipped up. Pretty dumb placement from Ford. It should be on the passenger side rear.
Good luck

Well I have the regular cab, and the only additional storage I have found (which was just recently discussed on here) is under the bottom cushion on the jump seat, its not much but its better than nothing.
Grab the piece of carpet in the front under the bottom cushion and pull firmly towards the fire wall and will release two tabs and it will raise up.

Yeah, when I first got my 2011 Lariat I had no idea what the subwoofer was and neither did the dealership, and it was a real pain getting used to. I agree, why on the drivers side?? I had no idea there may be storage under the center seat, I'll give it a try. My buddy has a new Chevy with the same seat arrangement and he has a deep storage area under his center cushion.

Still trying to fix this lack of center storage 2016 F350

Does anybody know where I can find a replacement center console. I'd like to remove the jump seat and install console with much better storage capacity? EBAY no luck, can I purchase this directly from Ford?

I actually tried what SD Dually said but couldn't get anything to release. Felt like I was going to tear the carpet material on the front of the seat. Could it be that they changed something on the 2016 jump seats? I'll give her a try again tomorrow. Not sure why they'd put a console in a truck that would be primarily used by contractors with very little storage. I tried to put a 30' measuring tape in the one I have today and couldn't close the lid!

Mine is a 2016. Just There are 2 plastic tabs holding the carpet to the seat frame. I was able to pop them off with some force.

That is standard storage for the higher trim level trucks. I also have a XL. before I tear mine off,I assume you are breaking those plastic tabs. Would it be possible to add a piano hinge to it for ease of use after the tabs are broke?

Just to be clear, my 2012 has 60/40/60 front seats. The back of the center seat is a storage tray with a couple cup holders and underneath the seat is lockable storage. Are you saying this is no longer an option?

Edit: sorry, forgot this thread was about XLs and I'm thinking Lariat.

It hinges great the way it sits. The plastic tabs are not broken and are hidden in the carpet of the center seat. They are more of a "push in" clip, instead of a screw or bolt. The cushion operates as if it is hinged.

Got it to work, enough room for my LC9 hidden from view and a few other things that won't fit in the top storage. Plastic anchors didn't break and it works fine without re-attaching them, like Rain Desert said. Thanks again for the help!
