Well I ordered a front leaf spring bushing kit. Under 100 cad. and a start towards driving in a straight line!

What part numbers did you find? The bushing kit that was ordered is from energy suspension. It will be here tonight so I will have a look.

I picked up the bushings tonight. They are 2" diameter and did not come with bolts so I will have get those too, if the originals do not come out.

Off topic.

Well sorta the engine is up there and makes the most noise. I installed a new engine oil temp sensor and am hoping it was part of the smoky starts. When I turned the ignition on the glow plugs would light for about 30 seconds then shut off. I will put the intake air temp sensor in the connector pipe from the filter to the turbo when I have a chance to weld a bung into the pipe.

I don't even have my air intake temp sensor plugged in... it is zip tied to the inside of my DS fender. Runs like a champ

Today the truck sat for the day at work and the wait to start light only came on for 5 seconds before shutting off. I have waited a full 30 seconds before starting with no start. I cycled the key 6 times at 5 seconds (wait to start light) and it started but did keep going. I plugged it in for 45 mins and it started and kept running.

So what controls the glow plug cycle(sensor?)? I put an oil temp sensor in and it seemed to smoke less this am after being plugged in all night. It was snowing at work all day so around 32f or 0c...

Glow plug relay, top of the engine to the left of the fuel bowl. You can jump the relay with a screwdriver with key on and hold for 15-20 then see if it starts. If it starts without a problem, relay is bad. If no start, it may need Glow Plugs.

Bbslider. The glow plugs are new from Jim. The relay is suspect however the jump technique has no effect. I did replace one uvch for burnt pins. I did all this because a few plugs were out of spec and the harness had issues. The problem still persists. I am not sure if the batteries are suspect but they have been removed from the truck tested and charged.

The PCM controls the glow plug run time, based on EOT. The WTS light has nothing to do with it; the relay stays closed long after the WTS goes out. Cycling the key just cycles the relay extra times, wearing it out prematurely. You need to measure voltage drop across the relay, and measure GP resistance at the UVCH connectors.

I know this isn't rocket science and I am capable. However I must be missing something. I will ohm the plugs and check voltage drop tomorrow.

A friend is dropping an amp meter by tomorrow. I will ohm the plugs again. They were good in November. I will check the relay voltage drop again. The batteries and cables are suspect.
What size batteries can I fit? I am looking at agm batteries with 1000cca as replacements

As for the front end noise. I am going to recheck the wheel bearing done by the shop. If the spindle nut is loose can I re tighten it or does it need new bearings?

Will it hurt the transmission to heat the drain plug to break it free?

Zf 5. I broke the square drive trying to free the plug and thought of heating the plug for the next attempt.
