1994 F350 CC SRW 7.5L non 4x4

So recently I found a 1994 F350 CC SRW long bed with the 460 in it non 4x4. I could pickup a 4x4 version non diesel for around $3500 here in SOCAL but what fun would that be not having a project. Well it is going to my son and I truck to work on and not my daily driver so MPG is my least concern but more so of future mods of 4x4 conversion first then a diesel swap. Perhaps the other way around but the 4x4 conversion will be cheaper as the 12v or 24v cummins are hard to come by and when you do they are pricey around here.

Perhaps a powerstroke would fit??? If so what year would I need to find and would the IDI be a good choice or don't bother might as well go with turbo years?

I drive now a 2005 F350 DRW 6.0 liter so I don't have any major reasons to have this truck other than a project and I love the OBS trucks. My dad had a SC 1995 model but the CC is just so much better.

I posted some photos and as you see it will need some work including a back seat. Kind of bummed about the seat but hoping that will not be hard to find and to ask what years are interchangeable and do I need to stick with the F250-350 models or would any others work? Without major modifications of course and would prefer bolt in.

Please check out the photos and ask any questions. I will be getting this truck in a month on a trade off for a small car I own 2000 Eclipse GT V6 that I got from a guy who deployed overseas.

Let me know what you guy's think!

Standby for a photo of outside I'm trying to get the one I had to work but it was downloaded from CL ad and I don't want to put the owners business out there as he deleted ad knowing I will be getting the truck.

For now though it is white with black two tone on bottom. Gives you a idea but I will see what I can do to edit the photo I have or next weekend I might go take a good look at the truck more and get some good photos. The ones I have posted are from what the owner sent me today.

since it's for fun you've got a great engine.just enjoy it.it'll be a lot funner to drive than a idi truck lol.
now if you said you were making a commercial work truck, then yeah but for fun why not a 460? it's perfect!

putting a rear seat in it will be .01% the job of a 4wd convert.so don't let that concern ya too much lol.

Yea no intentions of making it a commercial work truck, if anything once I get the 4x4 into it I may take it off road to play with and perhaps use it to tow my quads to the Mountains.

I still have my 6.0 Diesel for any major towing so basically this is just me wanting this truck for no real good reason other than a sweet deal on it and I want it.

So the 460 is really a good motor? Despite its lack of fuel mileage I have heard things that it is a solid motor but would like to hear what others feel that drive one. I see it does have a K&N air filter system on it would that be wise to keep or ditch that and go back factory? Not sure what gearing it has in the rear end but once I get it I will check all that out.

I think the biggest concern I have with 4x4 is sourcing the 4x4 axle that I will need?????

The Navy will put a hold on my project though as I will expect to deploy in the near future, but retirement is a few years away so what I don't finish now will just continue after I retire when time won't be a issue anymore.

Wait a second. What axles are you thinking of swapping in? D60s are leaf sprung and the one your buying is coil spring.

Come to think of it you may be right I must have misread other postings I have been researching not realizing this truck has coils. So with that in mind what years and front axles should I be looking for to complete a 4x4 swap? I honestly have not seen the truck nor realized it has coils.

More power to you. I would just but a 4x4 diesel to start. Your going to spend more doing the conversions then if you just bought one now. To each his own though.

If you can fab at all then get some 05-08 superduty axles they are coil sprung but they are wider I have read and you will need to move the coil spring mounts, etc.

True on the 4x4 conversion I know it won't be that cheap or cheap might be a understatement, but a 4x4 truck like this in SOCAL is over $3000 if not more and who knows what else is wrong with it.

At the current moment I don't need the 4x4 but would love to have it later if needed. So like I said maybe the diesel swap first or 4x4 have not decided. Or maybe just drive the **** out of it until the 460 dies. Not sure yet but when I can get the truck for damn near free I figured no matter what it was going to be worth whatever I decide to do to it. No it is not an investment and I don't ever expect to get what I put into it so if it costs me another $3000 or so to make it 4x4 then so be it. Heck I have no idea what it will cost but people say not cheap then I see posts of others doing it and it doesn't seem costly just sourcing parts is all.

If the 08+ axles are wider that doesn't seem to make sense then???

The postings I read is you remove the coil spring brackets and mount the RSK or other type drop hangar brackets to convert to leafs in the front and then you can use the D60. The 2wd trucks didn't come with boxed in frame I guess like the 4x4 but the frame is the same so it just requires mods.

Not even sure if you can keep the coils and fab a 4x4 conversion, all the threads I'm reading say shackle kits...

Waiting for a 460 to die can take a long time. Why not just make it a fun 2 wheel drive? I have a 4x4 F250 with the 460 and I rarely lock in the hubs. Still a great work truck in 2wd.
