My new division bars came yesterday, definitely has new felt in the window channel. These ones also have the lower bracket and a new piece of rubber on the one end. I think that this makes a seal with the vent window? I also think that I've bought this rubber piece twice now, guess I have some spares!

The top part of my new bar is pretty shiny, probably not chrome. It's attached to the rest of the bar with rivets, you might be able to drill them out?
I actually didn't notice earlier but the top part of my old bar is painted black.
I flipped the bars over, and the top part of new bar is shiny too.
The top part of the old bar is painted black. There is a shiny piece of metal, about 2-3/4 inches long laid over the black part, this must be like a scuff plate for the vent window latch.

We have already installed the doors on my Mercury. I don't think we'll take them off unless we have too. I think there are some good links to the correct installation procedure, maybe even a video? I need to prepare so we do this right, and not scratch the new paint. My body man, Al, removed the old division bars, but neither of us have installed a set on a Slick before.

I have done the job both ways.
For me it was easier with the doors on the truck, though a bit more care was needed while working around the truck.
Seemed that the door being vertical, rather than laying flat, and fixed, rather than being able to move around, made for an easier install.
Good luck.
