Ian I will be glad it will finally be fixed. Getting tired of going to the shop for it.

I'm not fond of it either Ian. I was a computer engineer for 25+ yrs, so I understand schematics, etc...I'm colorblind tho. That makes chasing issues a royal pita! In my career I always had to pass on building patch cables and setting up network drops...8 strands of thin wire with small color dabs on them is like looking for a lost contact when you dont have the other in either.

I swapped my harness out just prior to parking the truck in 1994, it must have been out of a 74 or 76...slightly different wiring and none of my gauges have ever worked. I still have the old one...had some wires that had chaffing, so I need to solder in a bunch of wire, repair a few other parts, then put it back in this week. and I did change out the 5v unit on the back, new senders, and replaced the gauge panel completely. The dash plug has a few different wires in it...but rather than continuing to chase wires, continuity, and power, I'm just going to repair the old one and be done with it.

Heath, can you put a new harness in it, like one from Painless? I will probably go that route.

I would like to stick an accessory fuse block in the engine bay for lights and things of that nature, and figure out how to relay off the existing fuse block. I want to do it right and I don't want to cut up the existing wiring too much because it hasn't been molested. All I have added is some fog lights.

I was gonna say the same thing. Isn't there a company that prints on the wiring exactly what it goes to, about every 8 inches or something like that?

Yeah, I think that's the Painless harness.

Meh, I thought it was that other company, maybe I'm mistaken. I cant even remember what the name of the other place is. I know that Painless pretty much lives up to their name though.

It might be, Ian. I know a few others, like American Autowire. Can think of any others off the top of my head.

I've good and bad about Painless. Don't know anything about American Autowire. Is Ron Francis the other one you're thinking about? I've heard some really good things about Ron Francis products from the folks in my Mustang online club at Four-Eyed Pride.

I've been emailing the Chief, HAS, (Health Administration Services) at the VAMC in Boise. We're trying to setup an information gathering meeting so I can prepare for my internship requirement prior to graduation next year.

WOW! That "...graduation next year" was weird to say. I can't believe I'm almost done with college this time around.

Morning Craig. Yeah, I've heard a few good things about Ron Francis also. I can't remember if he marks the wires, since Heath is color blind, he would need them labeled.
