Love the fuel source graphic.

I've had numerous conversations with hybrid or electric car owners about the true fuel that their cars run on and they are all either in shock or denial that there cars effectively run on nuclear or coal power.

Indeed, because afterall, electricity magically appears at the wall socket, right?

The other item misunderstood is the environmental impact on making the super-batteries these cars utilize. It's a dirty process to make some truly nasty stuff. There is no free lunch. To truly compare apples, one must look at the big picture, the entire manufacturing process and operation costs, not just what comes from the tailpipe. No matter what people may think, EV's have their own type of "environmental impact", whatever that may mean.

It's an interesting story and topic. One relevant to the car hobby in general, if not to our trucks exactly. Thanks for sharing.

To piggy back on that, people so wild about wind and solar have no concept of base load. We can thank public education and the alphabet news channels for that. Easy way to educate people would be to shut down the coal-fired plants for a week during August.

Probably get heck for this but so be it: olamo's plan is to cut North Dakota's emissions by 45%. Funny thing, one of our largest plants, the Coal Creek Station, generates 1000+ megawatts every day, yet it takes one year of that plant running, minus some days for turnarounds, to equal one day's worth of emissions in LA traffic. Yet Kalifornia is targeted very little.

We had one still day a few years ago with straight -30* temperature. CCS generated 1000+ MW. Wind towers generated 0.

Puzzles me how we need to reduce emissions but the president jetted off for his holiday with no regard for the affect his emisions might have? I'll step off my soap box now.

If you think it's fun discussing hybrids try talking fuel cells to the uneducated, or is that mis-educated, masses. No concept of hydrogen generation or what it takes to liquefy it. Yes it burns clean but it's one of the most inefficient forms of energy out there.
