Ok so at lunch time I went home and threw the freshly charged batteries in the truck. Pushed the gear lever past park with one hand and tried to start it with the other hand. Well the truck turned over and fired up. Gave it some gas and let it run. Jumped out of the seat to check if all is good under the hood and ............. it dies again. ( It only ran for a minute maximum) I do the same procedure again . The truck cranks over now if I hold the gear lever past park but won't fire up. I guess I'll get a new neutral safety switch and throw on it for starters.

Batteries: I have an advanced auto near where I live. I'll Take it them and see if they can load test them. I was thinking of putting in new batteries anyway once I get it running. I had no idea of how old they are. But getting them load tested is a good idea. Thanks :-).
I'll

I was doing an internet search and I came up with part #F7TZ7F293AA. I would appreciate if someone could confirm that this is what I should be buying. I can get one from Advanced auto but when it comes to electronics I have seen enough instances where you are better off buying OEM even if cost a little extra. Thanks

"Past Park" implies that maybe it's the shifter itself that's out of adjustment. I'm not an automatic guy, so someone with more experience with the autos might chime in.

hi madpogue ,
is the video I went to when I was doing an internet search on neutral safety switches. That is where I got the idea from. I just didn't want to push the lever from neutral to reverse or drive for the fear of running into something in case I accidently slipped into drive or reverse. Moreover pushing the thing back into parking would have been a bigger pain. I'll give that I try too though in the evening. :-)
