I have seen many a shiny, perfect rig on here, but not too many "mutts". Anybody else have a truck that is an amalgam of years/parts/colors?
A prime example: 73 cab/frame/vin, 79 driver's door, late model Bendix PS, later LB two-tank bed, one grille insert is a 73, the other is a 77, and a bunch of different colors. Paint is in its future, distant future.
I like it. Recycling in a very true form. To put together whatever you have to keep it on the road is great! I am hoping to find an F250 4x4 to do something like that...
Have one that was supposed to be a 73', the cab VIN said 78', the door matched the title, the bed was clearly a 78', but now it's a full 77' body with a 78' frame and running gear.
I considered a camo paint job, and am throwing around the idea of OD green or even blue. I have seen them look good in all colors, so it's a toss up. Comes down to what's cheapest.

Krylon camo paints are like $6 at Walmart.... I bought six cans of each color - black, brown, olive drab, and tan. .. Btw, four colors is more legit that three colors.
Not a bad price for the entire truck. It would be nice to have some good quality paint on there though. Found some hunter green on fleabay for $99/ gallon. Acrylic stuff. It might be worth doing.
Any way to extend the longevity of a spray bomb paint job?

Four each... just like a typical paint job, it requires multiple coats to get good coverage.
Masking is important because details count.... and it's a pain to remove overspray.
Doing some math, 6 cans of each 4 colors ($6) = $144. Add in the clear coat, and it gets a little pricey.
I can get that ebay stuff shipped to my door for free, and it costs $99, plus I have an ok spray rig that I could use for this. Mind you, this will be an outdoor paint job, but I intend on trying my best to get it looking good.
