2016 F250 Pioneer head unit install issues
So I've done this a few times, replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. It's very simple and generally plug and play.
Pull the old unit, get the right adapter to plug the factory wiring harness and antenna into, plug them into the new unit and your done. However this time on my 2016 F250 I get no power to the new Pioneer radio. I have another radio, a Kenwood from a 2010 f250, same harness and everything plug it in and it has no power either. Then the truck won't start, all very strange.
So I replace everything right back to stock and all is normal. So I'm curious if something has changed with the factory plug or something on the 2016's. No one makes a adapter for a 2016 so I figured they are all the same over a number of years. My factory unit is a AM/FM CD without sync. Just curious if a new pin as added to the 2016' or what might be different.
As I said it is usually easy. And again I reinstalled the factory unit and everything works fine, so no blown fuses.
googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-13'); });

Is it possible some of the functions of the truck use the factory radio to interface to the ECM and when you pull the factory radio out, that part disappears? I would check to see if there is a radio interface module that creates the missing radio data intercepts and allows you to put a new non OEM radio.
