Not much to report other than I'm ready for Spring already!!! Sorry no progress pictures. But.........while doing a local CL search I found a 239 Y block just like mine. The guy pulled it out of a 55 F100 and had a video of it running before he pulled it. He's going bigger. His loss my gain! So now I'm trying to decide whether to use this engine or still rebuild the one that's in the ole girl. Do any of you know if the high fan mount fan water pump will fit on the EBU (F150) engine. Also not sure if the tranny and drive shaft will match up? It was a deal I couldn't pass up so the shop just got smaller. Hope you all have a Happy Holidays and may your "projects" fill you with joy!

Finally getting some time and weather to work on my project. Today I started an attempt at getting the bed off the frame. Did not get it totally accomplished and came up with a few questions along the way. This is a 9' express bed. After two hours, grinding, prying, chain sawing, and eating 61 years of dirt I finally got the 8 bolts off that hold the bed to the frame. Now for the questions. Can you tell from the pictures if the heavy duty bumper came on the truck or was it put on after delivery? It is welded to the frame and also welded to the fender and side of the bed. From what I can see I will need to cut these supports to lift the bed up. The other question is about the tail light brackets. They are different and i assume the one has an extra bracket to hold the licence plate? Is that correct? Thanks for your comments.
Question 1: bumper is not a Ford original. It is after market. It may have been a dealer add on.
Question 2: tail light brackets are Ford originals. It probably came with only the left taillight and the right was added later per state law. They are the same. Look closer and you'll see the license plate bracket is attached to the left side bracket.
Well I got the Bed pulled off today. For you F100ers I can honestly say that the 9' express bed weighs more, obviously . Since I didn't have any helpers I resorted to using my tractor with a couple of tow straps. It worked well. Now I plan to evaluate the condition of the bed, frame, rear end, etc. Note the added on rear Bumper. I think I will remove it and not put it back. I personally think it will look better without it. Any thoughts?????
