95 f150 5.8 upgreading.

My wife's daily driver is a 95 f150 5.8 E4OD. I pulled the motor, and trans about 2 years ago and did complete rebuild on the motor, and a shift kit in the trans. Along with new torque converter; new roller lifters, and every sensor. It has a new radiator, new alt, everything in the steering system is new, down to the bearings in the steering column. I use Valvoline full synth, K&N oil and air filters. All synthetic gear lube. I even burn non-ethanol R90 fuel. I take very good care of her truck. It was owned by a rail road Co. in the start, and the previous owner dogged it. Blew the head gaskets, and warped both heads. I had them both magnafluxed, and shaved. No valve job. Everything in the steering was shot, no shocks, cooling system clogged. It was in bad shape. But I like my 90's ford trucks. Anyways, I Plan to buy some new heads in a few more months, along with a few other things. Shorty Smog headers, roller lifters, all new studs.
I was wanting advice on cam shafts. I have been thinking about a performance cam, but don't want to hurt the truck in anyway. My main goal is to build easy power, to obtain better gas mileage. The truck needs new heads, so I'm upgrading them to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/371316952336?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I plan to contact the seller, for studs, and roller rockers to go along with them. I will buy shorty headers from Advance here local, (I am friends w/ a employee and get a big discount).
Any suggestions on cam replacement? I don't want a check engine light, and just want a good running truck. It does great now, but if I have the top end back off, I was thinking about upgrades. Might I just buy a new Stock Cam? I will be making videos of the truck soon, I have a few pic's from the motor rebuild, and even a few videos. I will post them here for your entertainment.
Thank you all for your time, and information.

Those heads are grossly overpriced for what you're getting which is something that you will have to take to a machine shop to have all the valves redone because none of them will seal, and the cost doesn't even include studs and guide plates.
IMO you would be better off looking for a set of iron GT40s for it, these will bolt on and use all the stock valvetrain components and they are a 20% airflow upgrade from the stock heads. If you do anything else maybe just add a set of 1.7 roller rockers, this is about all the stock EFI system will handle anyway.

Someone else can chime in here, but I believe the factory mustang 5.0 cam was an upgrade a lot of people did to the first gen lightnings. If you did the gt40 heads, I think that would go nicely with it. And it's non mass air friendly.

I've had my experience with the afr's.

I have been thinking about buying a set of GT40 iron heads for it.

Not to spend much money on this thing, I just want to make it somewhat better.

I have noticed the bar 3 GT40 heads are what I would need, but from what I have found; they do not have the smog pipe hook-ups on the rear.
Are there bar 3 gt40 heads with the smog? Is there away around this, without getting a check engine light?
