Mustang II IFS advice

Hi, I am new to the forum.

I have just purchased a 1956 F100 project. It has been supplied with a Helix Mustang II IFS with coils, none of this is fitted at the moment but I am wanting to change to airbags.

What I would like advice on is, with the fabricated brackets (ebay) will there be enough room for AIRLIFT dominator D2500 bags, I have been informed that they are a tight squeeze and I should go for SS6 slam bags which are an inch smaller in diameter but I've already ordered the AIRLIFT ones but the supplier will change the order as they have not been dispatched yet. I am from the UK where this stuff is either not available or ultra expensive so I am having it shipped from USA.

Throw the Helix stuff in the trash and start over, search the net before you trust you life to that stuff. Then worry about the rest.

I have to agree with "Dave" on the Helix setup...any further work on that IFS would be like arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. Best to start with a more sound IFS. Helix, and the Hoffman Group in general, does not have a good rep here in the States.

Welcome to the forum, Kev! Dave and Charlie offer sound advice. Do your homework before committing any more resources on the helix stuff. It's inferior copies of other people's engineering, and most everyone who's used their products has regretted it. The archive here is full of stories of failure. Find a good kit that will work with your goals and the Airlift parts you want.

Best regards on your project. Cheers!

Hey Kev,
Welcome Aboard! If you put your location up on your profile you may find you have some experienced
members near by. Do you have some pics of your project?

We went with the Wide Ride mustang II style IFS for our '50 F1. The supplier was No Limit Engineering.
Our's is a coilover design. What engine & transmission do you plan to run?

As was mentioned above, cut your loses and scrap the Helix junk. Being in the UK, I would suggest that you talk to rodders in your area about using a series 3 XJ IFS.

Sorry I am late to the party, but yes the D2500 will be a very tight fit. You may want to look into our SlamAir Shocks instead. The shortest length will fit when ran upside down.
