F150 vs F250 safety question

Hello,
Last year i had a driver side collision in my F250 Super Duty service body ( work truck ). I was cut out of the wreck and was lucky to only have a fractured pelvis and crushed ankle. ( i was hit from the side ).
This got me wondering about how safe my extended cab F150 ( home truck ) really is ,since it has no center door post like the crew cabs.
Now I'm looking to get a four door truck ,but i am wondering if i should get a F250 instead of another F150. Will one really protect my family better than the other? I have noticed that over the years the F150 has gotten larger, but I'm thinking that it is what is underneath ( frame ) that counts.
Comments ? Suggestions ?
Thanks.
