So if the only time I would get a code would it cause the check engine light to come on? I am really just trying to get the check engine light to stay out. It has been coming on since head gaskets were replaced. Supposedly due to knock sensor, and Egr sensor both have been replaced and had codes checked today and still showing a code for knock sensor.

The only knock sensor code is from the Key On Engine Running (KOER) tests. It will not trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL).
What are the codes by number and during which tests? You should start with the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and stored code (Continuous Memory) display. Once those pass you can then move onto the Key On Engine Running tests.
Replacing a part does not clear a code from Continuous Memory, you have to manually do that.

Code 332 (KOER/CM): EGR valve opening not detected
I see no Knock Sensor code here. Typically replacing the EGR Position (EVP) sensor will not fix Code 332.
