I always thought it was interesting that when you look at the Y block and a 283 side by side, you can definitely see where it appears GM stole the design and chopped off the block skirting, and called it their new engine. Me thinks there may have been some industrial espionage going on. Cold war?

Thats pretty cool but out of reach for alot of people. I meet a guy up in Minnesota a while back. His name is Jerry Christensen. He drag races a 56 Thunderbird called the SR56 Blackbird. He runs factory iron heads and his own hand made aluminum intakes and headers. A real down to earth guy doing it the old school way and making a BUNCH of power. Plus he spent alot of time passing on a small bit of his knowledge to me. And he doesnt use scrub parts, aka chevy parts.
