Mornin-- thanks for checking in on my post.... I'm a 1st timer... Thought I'd give it a whirl. I've got a 352 and from what I can see , the truck was offered with a HD automatic in '65, just not mine. I'd like to do the conversion but keeping it as stock looking as possible. I spoke with CJ of "CJ's Rods and machines who said he could do the steering column with the correct shifter/ gear selector for a factory match.

Speaking is one thing, actually doing it...is another...because there is no "factory match."

There is no overdrive auto that will bolt to an FE engine. I think I have seen an adapter plate to mate an AOD to an FE, but and AOD is anything but heavy duty.
EDIT: It turns out the below link makes adapters to run an AOD, E4OD (can be built into a tough tranny) as well as Chevy trannys such as the 700R4 (not the toughest by any means) or the 4L80E which can be built into a super strong tranny. The problem with the E4OD and 4L80E is that they require a controller to make them work.
If you don't mind me asking, why not run a manual?
