Your opinion on this 2012 F350 Lariat FX4 please
FNG here, first post.
Found this forum while searching for information. I am considering this 2012 F350 Lariat with 6.7L Power Stroke. Mileage is 99,000 and the asking price is $36,999.
The truck is loaded. Leather seats, NAV, back-up camera. I downloaded all the dealer pics in the gallery. Looks super clean in the pics. Carfax shows no damage and regular maintenance. One owner.
Of course the Blue Book is much less than $37K according to my search...
What say you Super Duty experts? Is this a reasonable price for this truck? Go for it or punt?
And is there anything in particular to this truck that I need to look for or be aware of?
Thanks!

2012 6.7 had the bugs worked out. My suggestion is to use Kelly blue book and Edmunds for a realistic price, after that it's what you're willing pay. Now near 100k miles things that break can get pricey on the diesel, go to the diesel section on the forum and there is a 6.7 section do some reading. Tons of great info and don't be afraid to ask there the guys will help you spend your money or save it.
Welcome to forum. Great guys and a lot of info on these Ford trucks.
That is a sharp looking truck, don't get emotional attached it's just business for the sales person.

Very nice looking truck, it could be great value. But I've seen so many posts like this lately. At that price, you're a heartbeat away from a brand new custom order. Why would you take one that has 100k on it instead, and You'll never know what the previous goofball owner did to it, or how much it was abused.

Keep looking or get them down about 8-10k. You can get a '15 with no miles for just a little more with rebates and incentives. I went shopping a few months ago to replace my '04 if I were to sell. I could get into a '15 6.7 for about 41k. I just cannot justify that type of payment for a truck that will sit in my drive 80% of the time. Besides, my '04 V10 has less than 100k on it and has been trouble free and is paid for.

MadWolf I appreciate your response and I am not trying to be argumentative, but I do not understand your statement about being "heartbeat away from a brand new custom order."
This truck had a $62K MSRP and 2016 F350 Lariats start at $56K.
Did a quick search of inventory in my area and 2015 F250 4X4 Lariats start around $60K.

KBB shows just over $37k from a dealer. I'll bet the good carfax report shows that its worth $1500 or so more than avg based on what you said. One could think of that as a scam, but not really when you consider a well taken care of vehicle will save you a ton, so that does affect value on how much I'd be willing to spend. Not that you have to pay that either, but it's not overpriced by any stretch. Getting $8-10K off isn't going to happen unless you watch it sit for a long long time (3 months and then maybe). IMO used vehicles are all overpriced compared to what you can get brand new or very old. Sure it's half price of a new one, but it's also half way to expected expensive repairs. Yes the 6.7 can go a darn long time, but how long do you plan to keep it? Right now in most cases you get more value for your dollar going brand new. It hurts some people to think of it like that, but if you do the numbers for how long you'll own it for and what the residuals will be it's often the case. If payments scare you, consider a lease. It can't be a bad deal if every rich guy with a luxury car is doing it!
But, to you specific question, it looks nice and it's priced at a normal market level. if you like the truck, get to the grindstone and sharpen a deal. Managers will listen when they have a buyer. Shoppers don't get the same attention.
Edit: When I said $37k that is the upper edge of fair market. Sorry, I admit that's the first thing I look at (unless its for your trade of course). The point that it's within range still stands, especially with the good carfax)

Thanks for the responses. I will go look at it tomorrow.
About the new XL starting at $32K. Understood. I probably should have led off with the statement that I have absolutely no need for a diesel Super Duty. I just want one. The most I pull is a 21' bass boat. I drive 30 miles each way to work. So I want all the bells & whistles. I can't justify a new truck >$60K but at about the same value as my current RAM, I can justify (in my mind) this truck.

I just bought a 2011 F250 xlt diesel crew cab with 42000 miles for 31900. It wasn't loaded but had the options I wanted. It has everything but sunroof, leather, and multi disc CD changer. It has a bench front seat with the nice seats and the 4" display on the dash. Mine blue booked at 36000.

Depends on age too. I guess I was thinking more like 10yr/100k. 99k on a 4 year old truck, must have been more than a grocery getter though.
If most of you don't have any leaks or wetness on anything yet, that's fantastic news! I would hope that SDs are built to last. But, at 100k, I've seen, and heard of oil and tran fluid coming from nearly every seal on other vehicles, in different instances(not all on one car, lol). If you do a google search for things that go wrong at 100k, You'll see thousands of pages worth of stuff. But nothing unfixable. I had an 89 Bronco with 168k on it before this, everything leaked, but it was still running great.
If it gets a clean bill of health from them, no obvious leaks or damage, then it sure sounds like a nice rig!

I learned something if you have the display screen on your dash between the tach and speedometers on the 2011+ models. Look to see if the PO was towing and saved a trailer in there with settings. My 2011 had a leaky gasket on the transmission pan right around 90,000 km. 6.2 liter mind you but same tranny.
