Rain on switches

Have had the truck for 6 months and have no real complaints, except.... When I leave in the morning after a heavy dew or overnight rain with my windows down I end up with water coming in on my door switches for the first three or four stops. Are these controlls made to repeatedly get wet? I would rather not put window gutters on If I don't have to.

(Sorry, site doesn't like my picture format)

This is a very common problem.

If you use the aforementioned buttons to roll window back up. Rain/dew stay outside. It apparently works in about 100% of the wet switch cases.

Good Luck!

After I wash my truck, I blow the water out of the nooks and crannies with my 36v B&D leaf blower. It's really small and handy. It would take you 2 seconds to blow the water off in the morning.

switches are INSIDE of truck... a small amount will not hurt... but repeated.. YES..

have you not heard of the recall last year of a different car maker.. of window switch getting wet and causing a fire...

I had not heard of the other car manufacture's recall.

I could roll the window up , or in this case, leave it up for the first few minutes or stops of my day, I just would lkke to roll the windows down when I get in. If the switches are solid state, or waterproof, I just will chuckle each time and let it go. If the switches aren't made for it I'll shake my head rach day and leave the windows up for a few minutes. OR, with an 8 year warranty maybe I'll let it ride and see how it plays out.

Mine have gotten wet a few times due to similar circumstances, or having to make a mad dash in a heavy rain. I've had no problems with them, but would not push my luck (by doing this every day). Just keep the windows up until the dew is blown off. Not that big a deal.

Not quite the insightful discussion I was hoping for but I guess I can laugh along.

I tried... being a retired auto mechanic.. 43 years....

I do not know what you are looking for... make a rain cover for the switches...

or planning to replace them every few years... take one apart.. you will understand.
very cheaply made... 1970 to now... my opinion..

remember the bean counters has the final word.. look at GM and the ignition switch's. 10 years of a bad/unsafe design....

I have found keeping a rag in the door and deploying it when needed helps. Maybe just leave it there if getting in and out in rain. It dries soon enough.

Thanks to previous posts because I had hoped Ford would have seen that coming from years of rain and perhaps made the switches some kind of water resistant ... o well
