NEED DOCUMENTATION
Looking for some information on tire replacement. I was recently t-boned by a subaru, back wheel and tire took on the brunt of the hit, tore the whole front end off the subaru. My wrangler duratracs have 20k on them and all the info I found said not to replace one tire and that makes sense to me. That said, I am getting boned by the insurance company STATE FARM, whose position is that I need Ford documentation that having different tread depths will damage drive components. I called the dealer and Ford Motor company and got nothing. Has anyone had to deal with this. I already took the hit and paid for the other 3 tires out of pocket and because my after market wheels are not available I ate the cost of three new wheels. I would like to submit this cost with documentation to state farm and if they refuse I will have to sue the bozo that hit me. Any help would be appreciated

the insurance will normally cover direct damage and not the add ons. Get them to cover the new tire and wheel at the highest estimate available and go from there. There are some places that like High Prices and you should be able to find what can help.
normally the fronts will be where the newer tire goes to keep the rear end in proportion. Had a transmission shop tell me to get same type tire for brand and size when I had a fwd trans rebuilt. Maybe this route will help ya. try aamco or someplace like that. Lotsa luck in whatever.

And as a community of V10 owners, we can discuss just about any subject with people that might only be visiting the V10 forum, and not other places on FTE as much.

The moderation policy for the V10 has always been pretty lax in terms of subject matter - there was a time when we could only talk freely here, the diesel owners would pile on if we dared to venture out to even the SD forum.

That being said, I'm not sure where the OP could find any documentation about changing tires, but I would start with the Owner's Manual. Motorcraftservice.com has them online.

I'm sure I read something in there about recommendations about tire replacement in pairs.
