1988 Bronco II A4LD Trans. Fluid Change

When I change the transmission fluid in the Bronco II, I can't get it all out. I can't find a drain plug on the convertor. Does this mean I should change the fluid more often, since I am probably only getting a third of it out?

Thanks,
Smitty

You can drain the cooler lines and cooler, but thats about all you can get out. Just change as the owners manual says to.
I guess you could change it more often but if you arent having any trouble with it I woudln't.J,M.02 Worth

There has to be a way to drain the torque converter. If there weren't you would take a bath every time you pull the tranny. That is if you change a tranny like I do. Lay under it, lift and push while guiding with the knees.

There isn't any drain plug on the 88 A4LD. And for some strange reason it does not give you a bath when you remove the tranny.
I am glad someone else does a tranny job like me. Beefy, I thought I was the last of a dying breed. I do it exactly the same way.
Way to go Dude!!!Keep the true tranny job technique alive!!!

I learned about the bath the hard way about 16 years ago. I helped a buddy change out the C4 in his Granada. He drained the tranny and torque converter and pulled the driveshaft. I did the rest. I remember asking him specifically if he'd drained the Torque converter. I pulled the tranny, took the fluid bath, and from now on do it myself. Took 5 showers to get it all out of my hair. LOL

When I asked him why he told me he had drained the Torque Converter when he hadn't, he stated that he didn't know what a torque converter was and didn't want to admit it.
