My new retirement project. Original owner passed and family didn't want it. Very little rust, 40,000 miles, one cheezy paint job over bad body work, seat redone probably at time of paint. Everything works.
Still got the widow makers.
You can see the heavy bondo. No rust. Just a dent that never got pounded out.
No Ford script. Not sure if bed is home built. Wiring is scary.

Pulled the spark plugs and poured some MMO in the cylinders and let'er soak while I was on vacation.
The engine has good oil pressure, fires right up, runs and idles smooth but it's going to need a rebuild soon.
Has some oil smoke in exhaust. #3 and 4 cylinders are only 75-80 psi. Intake valves were leaking a little. Noticed it when intake was off.
Two cylinders were over 100 psi and the other 4 were 95.
I'm going to drive it as is until I'm ready to rebuild it.

I decided to go with original color, Sandpiper Tan. I've decided against a universal wiring harness. Going to get a new cowl harness. Eventually going to convert to 12 volt though because I want A/C.
Trying to keep it close to original. I have a Dana 60 with 3.73 gears from a 1972 F250. Probably going to swap in a T-98.
Need to find some steel wheels and hub caps and get rid of the widow makers.
REALLY want an 8 foot Express Bed.

Thanks! I really don't have the money or space right now to just tear it all down. Got my son and his kids living with me for a while and no extra parking.
My plan is to drive and enjoy it and figure out what I may or may not want to change. Get the bugs out and plug away at what I can without a tear down.
The wiring MUST be fixed SOON! The fuel tank is coming out tomorrow for a good flush.
I plan on doing a good vinegar flush of the cooling system. It will be nice to have a relatively clean engine internally by the time I rebuild it. The passenger side water pump is dripping a little so now is the time. Before new pumps. I'll get the rad serviced when I get pumps.
Plenty to do while still being able to drive it.

Pulled the seat so I could lube the tracks and slide it back. I'm a petite 6"3' and 290 lbs. Big steering wheels and big guts don't leave much room.
Had some crud showing up in my fuel bowl so the tank came out for a good flush.
Tank's nice and clean now.
No rust. We are fortunate in the desert when it comes to rust free old vehicles.
