Seat swap help!!

I'm wanting to change my seat out of my 65 cuz the springs are all broke and trashed I was wondering if a 67-72 will fit and if there is much of a size difference because the only seat frame I can find near me are out of those trucks and would the 65 seat upholstery fit the 67-72 thank you

It sure will fit and it's an easy fix. I recently scored a black vinyl crew-cab rear seat in great shape from a guy who wants Chevrolet split-benches front and rear in his '70. His loss my gain.

Let me add that the seat-back gets wider around '67 which causes it to hit the armrests when swung forward. Number Dummy will know more.

So if I don't have the arm rests it should be ok and the back being wider prolly means the cover from the 66 won't fit

Yes... but I'm not the expert. Is your upholstery good enough to re-use on a new seat?

That's good news. In mine the seat foam turned to a golden dust that filled the cab every time anyone sat on it.

A key part of what 6t6merc said is that the armrests (probably only, if they do at all) interfere with '67 and later seats in a '65 when you are tilting the seatback forward to access what's behind it. How often do you do that? If they interfere, just open both of the doors a bit and tilt the seatback forward. You certainly wouldn't be doing that while you are moving, so it's a minor inconvenience at best. You don't have to remove the arm rests. As it happens, I have oversized seats in my '66 and have no issues. Good luck!

I don't have arm rests so it shouldn't be much of a problem...I was also just making sure the 65 cover will fit the 67 wider frame ok too

If recall, seats wider 67 thru the 90's. Believe the seat tracks are same from 65 thru 69, not sure from 69-72, after that need to swap the tracks with later model seats.

Acquired 67 bench seat and did not care for the backside to bench fit, felt it set too high? Went salvage shopping and found 87 Lariat 40-20-40 contoured low profile seat for the 65; since I had a spare 67 bench seat, rather than swap tracks, I swapped the backs (removed 67 back and installed the 87). Tossed the cover and padding from the 67 bench and used the 87 cover and padding as a template for the upholster shop. Had to remove an arm rest, and remove small amount of material from the bench seat retainer using a 4" grinder to prevent it from stricking the fuel tank. Pleased with results.
