Bronco II xfr case/4wd locked after service
Hello everyone,
Just a "sanity" question. I had my '87 eddie B in for service, had the tires rotated, needed a new xfr case. My mechanic has always been great and they
seem to be very experienced ect.
Ok, got the truck back and its locked in 4wd. I didn't realize it until i tried a tight turn. Sooo, took it back, they looked at it, and it needs something to do with the 4wd (i think on the rear axle). thats going to take a rebuilt part for
600 bucks. I do trust these guys, but they say it had nothing to do with replacing the xfr case. I've been looking at these forums and other places and (its ok to laugh at me ) something wrong in the xfr case could very well lead to it being locked on (as I have read here). They say, in this case no. Yea, i understand screwing up (I do it all the time) and it causing some thing like this. I just thought its very suspicious that it came back locked! Wasn't before I went in with it. Could it be another part went bad? I am not a genius but my guess is they broke something! Is there a possibility that something else broke? (and chose this time to reveal itself?)
Thanks very much
Bob

new t-case
Ok, the info above was from a frantic call from my wife. In the interest
of people searching for info on this (most of you know this, i realize).
The t-case had 95k miles on it, but it was shot. they took it apart (for no charge) and put it back together. When they first did it, it worked, but
didn't hold for long. They admitted they didn't know why it gave out other than it was wore out, So we got a rebuilt t-case with lower mileage and its working.
