58 F100 T-19 and 351W

I just got a 58 F100 with a very sick 223 and 3 speed. I intend to use it
to tow a 1961 Aristocrat 17 foot camper - so more power is in order.

The plan is to use a T-19 and 351 W. But -- I need a bellhousing that
will fit the two together, have the hydraulic clutch setup, of course hang
the starter in the right place and have the "feet" to mount the bellhousing
on the 58 crossmember.

I know that the T-18 came behind small blocks
and 300 inlines -- and it would bolt up the same as the T-19 so the mating of the engine and trans - along with starter is given -- but what about the hydraulic clutch and the feet to mount the bellhousing on the 58 crossmember ?

I don't think there is any bellhousing for a 351 that will meet your requirements of a mounting for the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder and have feet for mounting to the crossmember.

Well the alternatives would be a bell housing that fits the T-19/18 and 351 with hydraulic clutch and no feet to mount the bell on the crossmember -- just install add on trans crossmember to support the trans --- OR a bell housing that fits a 292 with T-98 or T-18/19 with feet and hydraulic clutch -- and use an adapter to connect the small block to the 292 Bell --

Anybody ?

I wasn't sure if the ZF 5 would fit the truck without carving up the floor
too much or if it would be as bullet proof as the T-19 for towing. Besides, I have a T-19 and the only ZF 5 that comes up on a local yard search is $1200 and has a broken mount.

So does anyone know what year 302, 351 or 300 used a hydraulic clutch
with a T-18 or T-19?

or If there is an adapter to put a 302, 351, or 300 in front of a 292 4 speed bellhousing ?

Not an expert by any means but I don't think they are are that much bigger, just put 1 in my truck wo any change to the floor. They are used in f350s behind both 460s and diesels, I think they'll handle the towing. I know what you mean about the cost, when I was looking they were 900+, when I stopped looking they were 250 (used and unknown), the adapter would have to cost 300. If I had the option I would never pass up OD.

well you have me intrigued about the ZF - looking around and they are still expensive. I know my T-19 will go in with no cutting of crossmember or floor since it is a direct replacement for what came behind a 292. ZF sounds awesome -- and you didn't have to cut the floor or crossmember ?

I will continue to look for my T-19 Bellhousing because I already have the trans and a collection of small blocks -- but will also browse for a small block ZF until the day the T-19 is bolted in.

so the unanswered question is what year bellhousing am I looking for that fits the T-19 and the small block and has hydraulic clutch ?

E4TA-7505-DA

I think I might have found my BellHousing

Got it from someone who was ditching his T-18 in favor of a ZF behind a
4BT -- He says it will work with my 351W / T-19 combo

E4TA-7505-DA is the number on the bellhousing on the transmission mating
surface.

Can anyone confirm or deny that this will work to hook a 351W to a T-19
with a hydraulic clutch -- it appears to have the right bolt patterns and a couple holes for a slave cylinder.

1983/97 F250/350 with 460 & 6.9L/7.3L Diesels have a hydraulic clutch, as do 300 I-6 & 302/351W 1984/96 F150/350's.

No such bell housing ID number of E4TA-7505-DA, it has to be this:

E4TZ-7505-B .. 460/T-19 Bell Housing / Marked: E4TA-7500-DA or E7TA-BA / Obsolete

Applications: 1984/87 F250/350.

What year Hawk do you have? I've owned a 56J, several 62VK6's & 63VK6's, I'm also a member of SDC's forum.

I'll double check that Bellhousing number and re-post tomorrow night or Friday

I wish I had a Hawk -- I have a Studebaker 2R series pickup along
with a 37 Ford, a 9N Ford, a 58 F100, a 63 Fairlane sport coupe, my daily driver 66 Mustang, a 71 Camaro and a couple KB Internationals

E4TA-7505-DA number confirmed

I looked this morning and took a couple pictures. It seems to fit the
back of a 302 I have sitting in the garage. With the bellhousing sitting on the floor I stuck a tape measure thru the transmission hole to the floor. It measures about 6 3/8 to the trans mounting surface. I think it will work, but since it came off a 4BT it would be helpful to know that it actually works on a smallblock -- nothing worse than wrestling two heavy cast iron lumps together and finding out that the starter won't engage or that the diesel crank was set 1/4 inch higher up in the block than a small block and the input shaft won't go into the pilot. and if it will work -- what flywheel ?
