Anyone else have an F500 or F600 with single piston brake cylinders up front? The original parts and accessories catalog shows a dual piston cylinder (page 32 in the illustrations section) for the front and a single piston for the D and Y models (F250 and F350).


Just want to make sure the application is correct.

 

Both of my 56 COEs have the single piston clyinders. Got my parts from local NAPA.

 

Thank you! Do you find that your front brake shoe wears faster than the rear because of the way the single piston pushes forward on it?

 

Can`t really say. Both trucks of mine are in the project stage, but when I was a kid , dad had a 56 F600 and I don`t remember any brake problems with it. It had the hydrovac brakes and I do remember it stopped fairly well and never had any wear problems. They used that system well into the 80`s and I don`t know of any problems with the ones I`ve seen.
