No Start in Park, No Start in Neutral, New MLPS.

I have been having issues with my 89 IDI with an E4OD for the last few months. Kept having to mess with the shifter while in park to get it to spin the starter. replaced the MLPS, with a BWD branded one. already had the new connector installed. Lined up the marks, Worked for a day, then had the same issues again. It even sometimes will not start in neutral, I've had to pop the hood and jumper the starter relay trigger terminal to get it to spin. I'm all for fixing something the correct way, can anyone give me advice on what I'm doing wrong or what else it could be?

with the truck in N,hold the key to start while shifting upwards and downwards.will the starter then spin? if so,the range sensor (mlps) isn't adjusted correctly.
if it doesn't,then suspect your ignition switch.you can test to see if there is power going to the small terminal on the fender mounted solenoid when you turn the key to start, using a test light.

The ignition switch is new. I can hold the hey to run, and play with the shifter ALOT and it will eventually spin. Doesn't seem like there is much space for adjustment In the metal mlps mounting slots.

After doing some testing with a volt meter and test light. I'm not getting power to the starter relay wire, before the mlps. tried adjusting the switch, didn't help. run and accessory positions work. Already has a new actuator. Not sure what the issue is.

Sounds like maybe your ignition switch actuator is going bad. Have you checked operating the ignition switch, manually, from the switch itself? If the truck starts every time, then the actuator, between the key tumbler and the switch is probably failed.

Keep us posted, good luck.

If this happens again, say next week, then it is probably your actuator.
Its great to hear you are back on the road again.

smoothed a dorman actuator with 400 grit sandpaper, replaced that 2 weeks ago, lubed with white lithium grease. It was the switch out of adjustment. been trouble free for 300 miles.

Exclamation New MLPS... NO Crank, No Start... and hearing clicking sound

Hi there...
Currently new to the platform and pretty much have the same issue with my 1994 Ford F150 XLT Lighting; short story, I thought I was doing a simple replacement with neutral safety switch or (MLPS) sensor, had taken the connector off and while I was attempting to screw the lever shifter, it moved out of place and I quickly moved it back. I also didn't know that I was suppose to have the car in neutral (it was in park when I started the whole process)… so now, changed the safety switch; truck won't start even I move it to park and go down every gear, replaced the shift linkage cable and replaced my starter with a new one (under warranty) and also hearing a click sound after I attempt to start truck... and now I am stumped and pretty frustrated... any thoughts on the next step?

trans in neutral, remove switch, align the neutral marks on switch, and reinstall. it it still will not start, check the ignition switch.
