New project truck - Blue Thunder

New project truck - Blue Thunder
I picked this truck up a few weeks ago. Its and 84 F150 long bed with a 460 with a decent build sheet. Equipped with D0VE heads, roller valve train, rebuilt C6 and 3:55's in the rear end. It sounds pretty good!
I have been sorting out drive-ability issues, mostly with the help of forum posts:
--bad alternator
--bad battery (took a while to find the bad alternator)
--bad magnetic pickup (intermittent crank, no fire)
--cracked valve cover causing oil leak (had to track down non-steel valve cover)
--replaced channel window runs
Still need to wire in a neutral safety switch, reverse light switch and fix a sloppy turn signal switch in the column. So far, its been pretty fun to tinker with.
It should be a pretty fun street/strip/home depot ride. But with the 3" exhaust and headers, its not sneaking up on anyone.
I will start taking more pictures and updating this thread as I play.
Cheers.

Thank the Lord for the big block Ford!
No nonsense interior.

I am in the North Dallas area of Texas.
Looks like I solved the charging problem. Went for a drive tonight and with the headlights on the battery terminals showed 13.1 volts.
I did have to jiggle the voltage regulator connector a little to get the charging to kick in. Might buy a new one tomorrow to see if it improves the connection. It's pretty loose.
Also have a drive shaft loop to figure out so I can pass tech.

Ha! That shifter extension is pretty "custom". The shifter in mine is a little low, but I am not sure I am in for that mod.
I like the color on this old rig, but the truck is pretty rough inside 30 feet. The clear coat is mostly gone from the hood and roof, and it looks like it was a work truck based on the bed rails. The cab corners are a little bit rusty, too. I kind of like the patina, but not everyone does. If I get really bored, I may plastidip the hood and roof.
The wheels are painted to match the grey color of the truck, and that is a pretty nice touch. It looks pretty good, and it's not very obvious.
Thanks for the kind words.

I did yank the steering wheel of today to try to take some slop out of the turn signal switch. The screw that holds the switch to the lever was loose. I wasn't really able to snug it down, but got it working much better with a plastic washer. Not perfect, but I don't have to manually blink rhe switch anymore, either.

The threads on the screw looked to be in pretty good shape, but the screw wouldn't snug down. There seems to be a thread problem on the screw or hole side.
I will throw the lever on the growing list of things to look for in the junkyard.

I like your custom switch/light plate. Mine has a radio in that space, but pretty hard to hear with headers and exhaust rumble. Seems like there should be a lot of room behind there for gauges, switches, etc.

Caltracs are on. Pics are on my camera and I will upload them later today.
Removal of the springs required a grinder to cut the front bolts and a torch to knock out the bolt head (rust fused them together).
Also started to work on getting neutral safety and reverse light switches installed. My C6 doesn't have the holes to install the factory switch. I am not really interested in drilling and tapping into the transmission housing to install them, so I plan to install some switches in the shifter and run the wires to the factory plug along the frame.
The turbo action shifter has rollers that can be used to trigger a ball bearing or micro switch. Took the shifter apart to figure out how to fab a bracket to hold the switches.
