I am having some intermittent long cranks when parked facing down hill (even very slight downhill). It seems like it only happens cold and is worse when parked for longer. Truck has all updated parts under the hood and is under warranty for another month. I would like to know where to start diagnosing (what would cause this symptom) since I'm sure it won't do it when I take it to the shop right before warranty is up for one last go over.

 

Pull your EGR valve when the truck has been facing nose down for a bit. Look for coolant in the intake through the EGR valve port. If there's coolant, your EGR cooler has ruptured and you'll need to delete/replace it. This is indication though of other issues that would need to be remedied, as the EGR cooler is damaged by reduced coolant flow coming from a clogged oil cooler.

 

I should have elaborated on updated parts. This included STC fitting, dummy plugs, standpipes, ARP studs and factory gaskets, EGR delete. I also have an Insight CS to monitor everything along with EGT probe. This issue has never caused the truck not to start, only a longer crank.
