I NEED A LESSON IN EGR

OK, I'm losing a little coolant. It is not coming out the cap, at least it's not leaving residue. I cannot see an external leak or residue and I've looked very carefully. There is 0% coolant in the oil on blackstone report. So, it's gotta be an EGR cooler leak, right? The coolant then gets sucked through the EGR valve and into the exhaust stream, right? Who can give me a quick lesson on EGR cooler. What happens to the EGR gas if I put a hose on that bypasses the cooler? What happens if I buy a kit or have a shop remove the whole EGR? Don't I need somewhere for the excess gasses to go? Would it be better to install an upgraded cooler? Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you out of Warranty?

You can up grade the cooler or delete it. Your choice. I would think about deleting it.

I'd delete before upgrade. The EGR acts as a waste gate for the turbo but really should not present any problems once you delete.

Deleting the EGR is good, but make sure your tuner has, or can get, the tunes to support the EGR delete. I personally haven't deleted my EGR yet, but it's on my "to do" list. It should also allow you to achieve lower EGT's when you're towing.

I thought your boost PSI increases with a EGR delete? I would think a waste gate would be good to have even for just safety.

If you still have warranty, I would look at blocking and rerouting hoses so that it is taken out of the loop.
