I'm finally ready do do some drilling for EGT probes. I was going to put the driver side towards the front a little in order to get closer to the exhaust port since the passenger side is right at the exhaust port. I was going to drill up between the driveshaft and the frame.







On the passenger side, it seems like you have to put the probe right at the rear most exhaust port. Here's where I plan to go:






Any reason to do it differently?

 

Both locations your are holding the tool on will work fine. I always tell people to put them in the bend of the exhaust manifold right before it enters the up-pipe.

 

Those locations are about where mine are. The closer to the end, the better... but you need a big wire sticking out and to be able to put a wrench on the sensor.

I know some have been concerned about shavings in the manifold.

I did this with the up pipes out and no grease. After tapping, I vacuumed the tapped hole. In the driver side I could reach my finger in to feel around for chips. Nothing. On the passenger side I couldn't get my finger in but I got a magnet in there so that I could see it through the tapped hole. Nothing there either.
