KAM POWER
#31
Thanks guys now we are getting some where.
Rusty the ECU I refer to were the very early production 70 to73. Sometime in late 73 the battery acces cover was removed and the ecu was sealed at least the ones I remember. Great info as well. The9v battery minder I haven't used since 1990 LOL they only worked for a few hours and were mainly for keeping your clock alive and your radio programed with your station selections IIRC.
04bradford thank you that confirms and clarifies what I suspected Kam to be a working memory buffer. However on the systems I have worked on that had the KAM problem. I checked wireing suspecting that as a possible culprit many times. I came to the conclusion that it may be internal to the PCM itself. #40 has always had stabil power when tested at the plug.
Yahiko great info as useuall. What else can I say other than you wana help me find my hacker??? LOL
Thank you all keep them comeing

I may as well let this die and slide off the board. Until someone opens up a PCM we may never know. No diagrams that I can find online.
Restlesswildman I did find some pictuers but not much help they only show one side of the ecu. The cover does have 4 small screws so maybe I was confuseing what I remember. It was a long time ago and my memory ain't so good sometimes.

I'll be the little train that could.
I think I can,I think I can,I think I can.
I think, Therefore I am!

Funny thing I went to the tool box to pick out a torx driver.
I grabbed the right one first try.
Easy opening job and after the bit I thought it would be a pain to open.
Dark stain was the buffer pad.
No battery in sight. Just the programming port and some
crystal oscillators.

Thank you for that. I really did not exspect to find an actual battery in a PCM but more like a capictor array or something that would be recogniseable as power.
No such luck from what I see in the pics.
Well back to the drawing board. LOL Hey at least the last document confirms that the kapwr circuit is the pwr circuit for a 6.0 pcm.
