If you want to dress up your engine compartment. buy it.
If you want a little more throttle response. buy it.
Don't expect much in the horsepower gains. The stock system, although ugly, works pretty good.
If you want a different sound. you'll get it. Maybe to loud when your towing. Some don't like it. I have not installed a CAI on this truck, because I tow a travel trailer. When pulling a grade, the stock intake is pretty loud. I don't think I'm ready to make it louder.
I don't buy off on the fine dust theory. I've been using K&N since 1992. In 8 different pickups and suv's. Each time I cleaned the filter, I wiped the inside if the tube with a white towel. Never have I found dust or oil. And I live in southwestern Arizona.
Dust gets through because of improper installation. Oil contamination because of improper oiling.

I'm putting my money on a tune. The throttle response is horrible, hope that gets much better with a 5 star tune!

I think the intake is very nice, the afe stage 2 that is. It gains you about 9 whp. I love the sound it makes as well, not too loud leaving the cover on. I think the knock on intakes is that people used to always put on CAI without a tune, now that is a waste of money. I ordered my 5 star tune and intake at the same time and Mike sent the tunes for the mods.
