Carmello, I had a little trouble trying to figure what you were asking. I am going to hit the length.
The overall length horn button to down shaft in the gear box is very close to same from 65 to 79. In 73 Ford went to the Saginaw gear that has connections for the hoses up on top of the gear. This causes the column to gear connection to have to be moved about 2 1/3 in closer to the firewall. There is a difference in the dash cuff and some wiring inside the column but otherwise the same for swapping.
For appearances only the older cuff needs to be retained or longer bolts have to be used.
Hopes this clears a little for you

I run a 76 column in my 66, but it is connected to the 76 Saginaw power gear.
Think of it like this Bendix gear |---x----|horn button: Saginaw gear |----x---|horn button.
