55 F-100 tranny question

Hey guys, new to the board, reason being i have a friend who has a 1955 F-100. Has a 312 in it. Question is, what newer transmission will fit this. It now has a 3 speed, he is looking for a 5 speed, assuming because it is more highway friendly. Another thing is he has bench seat, so he'll need a floor shifter that won't bang up against the seat everytime he shifts. With the stock bell housing he also needs to know which clutch disk and pressure plate he'll need. Also he'll need a different driveshaft, if none are out to fit, he can have one fabricated and balanced. To be completely honest here, i'm not very familiar with ford trucks, especially the older ones. Any information you guys can give me would be great, i did do a search and didn't find very much. thanks again guys!

55 F-100 tranny question

I registered with this group because of this post. I wanted to ask mr4speedford a question but aparently can't e-mail members for 30 days plus I have to post 25 times. This is one and I will sent out 25 more today. If mr4speedford reads this he may simply e-mail me so I can ask my question, which pertains to the use of a 4-speed toploader mated to a 351w and linked to a column shifter originally used with a 3-speed tranny. Yes, this is kinda important.
