Impressive Brake Life?
#31
My 2010 is just shy of 76,000 miles and I would say that I have roughly 50% pad material left on the front and probably 60-70% left on the rear. My truck is my daily driver with equal amounts of highway and city driving. I don't tow or haul excessive weight in the bed, with the occasional load of stuff from home depot or lowes. All but the front drivers side rotor look to be in excellent shape. They seem to have very little wear in regards to thickness and minor scoring and grooves.
The one with the most wear seems to have quite a bit of scoring and grooving, and is noticeably thinner than the other three.
I'm hoping that I can reach 100,000 before I need to replace anything. I'm sure the questionable rotor will be shot at that point.
I really like the way that my stock brakes feel and perform, but i'm sure there is room for improvement, as with most things.
Has anyone switched to powerstop rotors and pads, and if so, which kit did you go with? Z23, Z26, or Z36? what was your experience compared to stock. After looking up the parts on fordparts.com, the price difference is minimal, with the powerstop brakes being slightly more expensive.

When I pull the wheels off to switch over to my snow tires I'll take a look at them and see how they are wearing.

I'm at about 32,000 and still have plenty of pad left. I think my rotors are starting to warp, though. Truck is starting to shudder when I apply the brakes. What's a decent rotor for these so I don't have that problem anymore? It is 4wd.
My old 2006 truck would kill a set of rotors and pads in about 30-40,000. That was 2wd too so rotors weren't exactly cheap!

Yes, I believe the OE pads are ceramic, and that's about what I always used on my '06; OEM or similar. It wasn't until much later that I figured that out; that the pads are ceramic, and hence the reason why I was spending $400 in rotors every 30,000 miles!
Not sure about these newer ones, but on the '04-08 2wd trucks, the hub and bearing assembly was built into the front rotor. Rotors were $200 each. Unless you wanted the Ford rotors, then it was even more

Wow!
Did you happen to save your receipt or anything? Can you provide part #'s and prices?
Never mind, I went on their website. Duh??? Anyway they're not sold anywhere near me so I'll have to order them online. Could be why I never heard of them before. They're not cheap but it sounds like they're worth it. For example I found just the front rotors on Summit for $158/pair. Rock Auto's website didn't want to play nice today. I'll check there later. Thanks for the recommendations y'all!

I finally got around to checking Rock Auto's website. They want $127 for just the front rotors. That price is for the pair. With shipping to my front door it's about $144. I'll be placing the order next paycheck. That's similar to their price for the stock rotors.
