Tire and rim help

I need to replace the tires on my f1. I have a perfect set of 265/75/15 tires. Will they fit on the original rim? Also, what's an easy do it yourself trick I can do to lower the front and rear. Thanks, pirate.

Pirate6455,
For that size tire you will need at wheel with rim width of at least 7 to 9 inches. Your stock rims are about 4 inches wide, so you should NOT use them for the tires you have on hand.

Welcome. A 265/75R15" tire is recommended for a rim between 7.00"- 8.50", and are permitted on a 9.00" or 9.50" rim. If you have stock era F-1/F-100 wheels they are likely 5.00" wide, and if you are lucky 5.50" or 6.00" in some, but in no way do they meet the 7.00" minimum. My source is a Tire and Rim Association manual. I'll defer to the dark siders on your lowering question. Stu

With that size tire, even if you got wider rims, you would not have enough clearance on the front fenders. Not only would lowering the truck be out of the question, you would have to raise it. On stock height the biggest tires that will clear on the front would be about 235/70/15 and that would be close. Oh, and if you do have the original wheels, they should be 16"
